15μενοι τὴν τῆς θεᾶς ἐπιφάνειαν παρεκάλεσαν μετὰ
16πάσης σπουδῆς καὶ φιλοτιμίας ἀποδέξασθαι τὸν ἀγῶ–
17να στεφανίτην ἰσοπύθιον, ὃν τιθέασιν τεῖ Ἀρτέμιδι τεῖ

3Beschluss des Rates; im Pyanopsion am sechsten,
4dem siebten (Tag) der Prytanie; Ratsversammlung im Buleuterion; von den Vor-
5sitzenden leitete die Abstimmung Eubios S.d. Nikanor aus dem Demos Phaleron und seine
6Mitvorsitzenden; Agathokles S.d. Diophanes aus dem Demos Dekelea stellte den Antrag: Da die
7Magneten am Maiandros, Partner und Freunde des Volkes der Athener,
8beschlossen haben, ein Opfer zu geben und musische und hippische und sportliche
9Spiele um Kränze, im Wert den pythischen gleich,
10für die Schutzherrin ihrer Stadt, Artemis Leukophryene,
11und entsandt haben als Festgesandte: Apollophanes S.d. Aischylos, Euboulos
12S.d. Anaxagoras, Lykomedes S.d. Charisios, die vor den Rat und die
13Volksversammlung traten und die zwischen den Städten bestehende
14Partnerschaft und Freundschaft erneuerten und die Epiphanie
15der Göttin schilderten und mit allem Eifer und Ehrgeiz
16ersuchten, die Spiele um Kränze im Wert der pythischen
17anzuerkennen, die sie der Artemis Leukophyrene
18ausrichten, und ihre Stadt und das Land als
19heilig und unverletzlich anzuerkennen, so wie ihnen auch der Gott in Delphi
20das Orakel gegeben hat; – Damit nun auch das Volk in öffentlicher Weise zu jeder Zeit
21das Göttliche ehrt und die Partnerschaft und Freundschaft
22mit den Magneten bewahrt, zu Glück und Heil!, wolle beschließen
23der Rat: dass die Vorsitzenden, die erlost sein werden für die kommende
24Volksversammlung, hierüber verhandeln lassen und die Beschlussvorlage
25des Rates in die Volksversammlung einbringen, wonach der Rat es für gut befindet,
26dass das Volk akzeptiere für jetzt und für die Zukunft
27den Festfrieden und die Opfer und die Spiele, die die
28Magneten der Artemis Leukophryene als Kranz–Spiele im Wert der pythischen
29ausrichten, und dass ihre Stadt und das Land heilig
30und unverletzlich sein sollen gemäß den Orakels des Gottes; dass man
31auch belobige das Volk der Magneten und bekränze
32mit einem Lorbeerkranz wegen seiner Frömmigkeit; dass man belobige auch
33die erschienenen Festgestandten Apollophanes, Eubou-
34los (und) Lykomedes und bekränze einen jeden von ihnen mit
35einem Lorbeerkranz wegen ihrer Frömmigkeit gegenüber der Göttin und
36ihres Ehrgeizes für das Vaterland; dass man sie auch zum
37Bankett in das Prytaneion für morgen lade; dass diesen
38Beschluss der Sekretär, der während der Prytanie amtiert, aufzeichne
39auf eine steinerne Stele und aufstelle in dem Tempel; dass die entstandenen
40Kosten für die Anfertigung der Stele und die Weihung
41der Schatzmeister und die Finanzverwalter begleichen.

3was secretary. Decree of the Council. On the sixth of Pyanopsion,
4the seventh of the prytany. Council in the Council chamber. Of the presiding
5committee Eubios son of Nikanor of Phaleron was putting to the vote, and his fellow presiding
6committee members. Agathokles son of Diophanes of Dekeleia proposed: since the Magnesians
7on the Maeander, being familiars and friends of the Athenian
8People, having voted to fund a sacrifice and a competition for the prize of a crown,
9equal to the Pythian, musical and equestrian and gymnastic,
10for the patron deity of their city, Artemis Leukophryene,
11have despatched official visitors, Apollophanes son of Aischylos, Euboulos
12son of Anaxagoras, Lykomedes son of Charisios, who, having come before
13the Council and the People, have renewed their pre-existing
14connections and friendship with the cities, and having recounted
15the epiphany of the goddess, have urged with
16all zeal and love of honour that the competition
17for a crown, equal to the Pythian, which they have established for Artemis
18Lykophryene, be accepted, and to declare their city and territory
19sacred and inviolable, as the god in Delphi
20has instructed; in order therefore that the People may be seen at every
21opportunity to be honouring the divine and fostering connections and friendship with the
22Magnesians, for good fortune, the Council
23shall decide, that the presiding committee allotted for the forthcoming
24Assembly shall put these matters on the agenda, and submit
25the opinion of the Council to the People, that it seems good to the Council,
26that the People should accept both now and in time hereafter
27the truce and the sacrifices and the competition which
28the Magnesians have established for Artemis Lykophryene, for the prize of a crown, equal to the Pythian,
29and that their city and territory shall be sacred
30and inviolable according to the oracles of the god; and to praise
31the Magnesian People and crown it
32with a foliage crown for its piety, and to praise also
33the official visitors who are present, Apollophanes, Euboulos,
34Lykomedes, and crown each of them with a foliage
35crown for their piety towards the goddess and
36their love of honour towards their fatherland, and to invite them also
37to hospitality in the city hall tomorrow; and the prytany
38secretary shall inscribe this decree
39on a stone stele and stand it in the sanctuary; and the treasurer
40and the board of administrators shall allocate
41the expenditure arising for the making and setting up the stele.
